Speaker

from The Mercury, April 13, 2019

I was recently honored to be the featured speaker at the PAAG meeting on April 16th 2019, at the Hill School in Pottstown, PA. It was a great audience, very responsive and engaged, and the questions about my work and the art life in general were many and varied! Lots of deep discussion and laughing too, which is the mix I like best. A great night!

Costumed Model Class

Hey all, I'm excited to be teaching a Costumed Model class at the Main Line Art Center starting on Wednesday April 24, 6;30-9:30 pm. It's one of the new 5-week courses the center is running. I'm already lining up models, and their costumes, and it's going to be so much fun! I'll actually be co-teaching with artist Eliza Auth, who will be teaching the second and third weeks of the class, excellent for getting another viewpoint!

PAINTING AND DRAWING THE COSTUMED MODEL

Have fun honing your drawing and painting techniques while working from a costumed live model. Study how to describe the form and face while implying a narrative based on the model's costume. Explore techniques on how to render fabric as it drapes and conforms to the body, along with other textures, and dramatic light and shadow. Students are expected to be beyond the absolute beginner level in the medium of their choice, but don't need to have had previous experience with the costumed figure specifically. All mediums are welcome!
