Alumni Spotlight interview

I am honored to be the subject of a really in-depth interview in the current issue of Preview Magazine, the publication of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. I was asked because of my position as the President of the PAFA Alumni Association Council. In this role I am relishing the challenge to get things done for my fellow alumni and am lucky to have the camaraderie, energy and mutual assistance of a wonderful council of PAFA alums and the strong support of many superb PAFA administrators and staff.

Outdoor Painter article!

My friend Alex Tyng and I have reciprocal portraits in the Painters Painting section of Outdoor Painter! Outdoor Painter is the online version of Plein Air magazine. Both the paintings in the article (written by Steve Doherty) were done on the same trip, one year ago when Alex and I went on a "business trip" to Maine. Click each image to enlarge and read.

Review of Two Art Books

A Tale of Two Art Books
I was surprised and delighted to find that the magazine kept my somewhat facetious working title as the print title for this review! Had I been really following the Dickens formula I would have begun the review with "It was the best of books, it was the worst of books..." but in fact both books are wonderful! Very different from each other, but each is excellent in its own way. Classical Painting Atelier by Juliette Aristides and Alla Prima by Al Gury



This just came out in Fine Art Connoisseur, October 2009, page 38.
